Updated March 17, 2025

We’re pleased to announce the availability of NH360 Portfolio Insights v6.16 – Product Update 16 (PU16). Product Updates include all previously released public updates and private hotfixes. We strongly recommend that any patch and release is validated in a non-production environment first before being applied to production environments.

Here is a list of changes that will be introduced with this update:

New Features

1. Portfolio Manager - Strategic Impact

We are introducing a new and improved way to assess your what-if scenario’s strategic impact directly within Portfolio Manager plans. This update introduces powerful new visualizations, better strategic alignment, and flexible reporting capabilities. We believe these enhancements will empower you to make more informed decisions.

  • The new Overview page provides insights into key scenario metrics such as Portfolio value score, Total budget cost, Resource utilization, and the contribution of each entity towards the completion of strategic objectives and metrics.
  • The new Strategic Impact view, accessible from the Overview page, offers clearer understanding of how your portfolio aligns with strategic goals. Quickly see how your selected entities align with each strategic objective and dive into their current and future contributions towards key strategic metric targets.
  • A new plan configuration step allows you to select which strategic objectives will be included in the portfolio plan. You can also choose to include metric assignments from entities outside the scope of your portfolio plan.
  • Dedicated OData views will enable you to include all the strategic impact information from any what-if scenario into new or existing reports and dashboards.

2. Portfolio optimization bulk operations

This feature provides users with a faster way of acting on multiple entities within the Optimization view from their portfolio plans.

  • A new dedicated toolbar has been added to the Optimization view containing the following actions: Include, Exclude, Drop, Lock status, Unlock status, Lock rank and Unlock rank.
  • The Recalculate and Adjust Drivers actions have been embedded in the new toolbar as well.
  • Users can now select multiple rows from the entity list and use any of the toolbar actions to drop them to the backlog, change or lock their Optimization Status, or lock their Rank.

3. Personalized Portfolio Hub views

This feature provides administrators with the capability to create personalized views by filtering Portfolio Hub content based on the current user's identity, utilizing People Picker field values for dynamic, user-specific displays.

  • A new handle, @CurrentUser, can be selected when defining filters with people picker entity fields in the Filter Settings section, when creating or editing Portfolio Hub views.
  • The new handle can only be selected for people picker fields that use the Populate with users options.
  • Filtered views using the new handle will display only entities where the current user is selected in the associated People Picker field, ensuring personalized and relevant content.

4. Manage entity access using people picker fields

We are introducing a new and flexible way to grant and revoke access to entities, using one or more people picker entity fields. This enables regular users to update an entity’s access without requiring an elevated set of permissions and improves user experience by not requiring an administrator to grant entity access to individual users.

  • A new Manage entity access using this field option is now available when creating or editing entity fields of type People Picker, populated with users.
  • Users added to these people picker fields will be granted entity access. When users are removed from the field, their entity access is revoked.
  • Users granted entity access through people pickers are conveniently listed in the Manage Entity Access dialog, allowing their entity-specific permissions to be customized if needed.
  • Use the Automatically update access to existing entities option to instantly apply entity access updates when changing the Manage Entity Access using this field option on existing fields.
  • Update entity access with different users across many entities by importing people picker field values using Data Exchange.

5. Default entity access control for Security Groups

This feature provides administrators with greater flexibility in controlling which security groups have default access to newly created entities, streamlining the entity access management process.

  • A new Access all new entities by default checkbox has been added to the Access and Security section when creating or editing entity types. It allows administrators to specify which selected security groups will automatically have access to newly created entities of that type.
  • When checked, the security group will be automatically selected in the Manage Entity Access dialog for new entities; when unchecked, manual selection will be required if access is needed, providing more precise control over entity access from the moment of creation.
  • The Access all new entities by default setting is available for new and existing entity types, with changes to existing types affecting only future entities. The Manage Entity Access administration page remains available for updating access to existing entities in bulk.

6. Read-only access to metric assignments

We're introducing a new permission that allows administrators to grant users view-only access to metric assignments in entities, enhancing data visibility while maintaining data integrity.

  • Introducing the View Metrics for Entities permission: A new addition to Security Groups and Permission Templates, enhancing granular control over metric visibility.
  • Users with this permission can access the Metrics web part, view existing metric assignments, and see their corresponding values.
  • While users can view metrics, they cannot add, create, update, or delete metric assignments, ensuring data consistency and security.
